1st Annual Emory’s Silver Lake Fun Run

Benefitting Housing Hope and Beck’s Place

Everett, WA: 99 participants registered to run or walk around Silver Lake Labor Day Weekend for the 1st Annual Emory’s Silver Lake Fun Run. Proceeds benefitted Housing Hope and Beck’s Place, with over $2,000 raised for the local charities.

Partnering with local race company Run 2 Be Fit, we organized the run or walk to circle Silver Lake, ending with a post-race party on the deck. The race began at 11:00am on September 3rd in roughly 80℉ heat before the smoke from surrounding area fires quickly filled the air less than 24 hours later. “Our goal was 50-75 participants and we ended up with 99,” said Emory Cole, owner of Emory’s on Silver Lake, “We had a great turn out and we are beyond thrilled with the amount of money raised for Housing Hope and Beck’s Place.”
Grace Martinez, owner of Run 2 Be Fit said, “Being involved in an event that the local community could participate in was awesome! Our company goal has been to provide the community with options to be physically active. Teaming up with Emory’s enabled us to promote a fun activity that benefitted all. We got an opportunity to share what we do with the local community, and can’t wait for next year!”

Emory’s PR, Marketing and Banquet Manager, Kelly Cole, brought up the idea in a manager meeting a few months back. Constantly registering for and participating in fun runs and obstacle course races, she knew Silver Lake would be the perfect location for a fun run.

  • Emory’s has great community support, and strong ties with both local charities. We ended up with roughly 20 volunteers who helped with packet pickup, the water station, and directing participants throughout the course.
  • Emory’s wanted to promote health and wellness, and create a fun event that anyone could participate in, whether it was a first timer or a fitness professional.
